Birdies Bistro

Coffee shop.

Birdies Bistro sits on the edge of the RSPB’s Hayle nature reserve in Lelant.

The bistro serves classic English dishes with an imaginative difference, such as bubble and squeak served with bacon, poached egg and hollandaise sauce.

We are open 7 days a week and welcome both regulars and visitors to the area. Dom has worked at a variety of high profile establishments that include Harrods, Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and Ferrari. He also worked with the prestigious Salisbury group, who own gastro pubs in Buckinghamshire where he created British colonial food made with foraged ingredients and local seasonal produce. Consequently, he is passionate about real food and is a keen supporter of the county’s smaller food producers. He says: “Cornwall has a fantastic variety of local seasonal ingredients that are full of flavour. Our local suppliers, from dairy through to game, are excellent and it’s a joy to create menus using their produce.” Dom continued, “It has long been a dream of ours to open our own restaurant and to find such a unique venue allowed the dream to come true.” Birdies Bistro has a bright, airy, vintage style with stunning views over the estuary that change as the tide comes and goes. The fence surrounding the garden has been customised with large viewing holes at both child and adult level, to ensure that birds and other wildlife can be watched with minimal disturbance.
