Bluebells Cafe Tearoom
Charming family run tea room
My childhood dream come true. My tea room is my passion and I can't wait to welcome you!
A traditional tearoom set in a perfect picturesque location on the High Street in Battle opposite the Abbey, the historic site of The Battle of Hastings 1066.
At a very young age I persuaded my Dad to convert the shed into a playroom, this was no ordinary playroom, this was my very own imaginary shop. I would raid the dustbin for all the empty food packaging to display on the shelves Dad made. Mum would let me bake cakes for my shop and my sisters and friends took it in turns to be the customer and the sales assistant – my favourite part to play was being on the till and serving. Throughout my career I’ve always been customer focused from my first job selling shoes through to serving in banks and being driven to meet large retail giants mission of quality, service and value – after all the customer is always right! Friends, family and colleagues have loved devouring the weekly tasty treats I’ve made over the year, as my passion for baking and trying out different recipes has continued to grow. Losing my Dad and more recently my Mum made me realise that life is short and I should follow my childhood dream of owning my own place – and this is it! Bluebells Tea room has turned my dream in to a reality. I’m sure my parents would be proud of how far that little girl in the shed has come as I start my journey with my husband, Russ. So, now we’re ready to serve the community and visitors of Battle. Not from a shed at the end of the garden, but from our welcoming tearoom, full of love, laughter and of course lots of tasty delights. We look forward to meeting you all and sharing our love of cake.
