My family first became involved in fish and chips in the early 60s when my Granddad had a fish and chips traditional shop selling fish and chips for one shilling and four pence! “Oh how times have changed” well certainly the price has but the quality fresh fish and chips and family recipes have been passed down generations which is why our fish and chips have always been this good! In the 1980s, my parents had a very successful fish and chip shop in Derby which was known as one of the best, winning awards and having a reputable name. I learnt from the best! Growing up in the trade after school I use to sit on the huge pile of spuds and watch staff peel the Maris Pipers. Then the fresh fish delivery would come and I would help them unpack it never forgetting that fresh sea salt scent. We would then prepare the fish for my father, who would use his homemade batter recipe to fry up the best fish and chips in town. Finally my mother and sisters would serve it up with a smile! You see it’s not just selling fish and chips for us it’s our life and all we have ever known. Unlike some other establishments this is not a franchise or just another setting up of a business this is our life and what we do best! You can’t ask a musician to paint you a portrait! All those days I rushed home from school eager to help and learn has all paid off as me and my wife do what we love best and serve customers we love the food we love! We are run with family pride!
