We are friends that have lived and worked in Swarland or the surrounding area for a number of years. We’ve all worked long term in the village preschool, and have enjoyed being part of the community. In 2002-2004 we were involved in the fundraising and installation of the new children’s play park which sits within Vyner Park; this replaced the old play facilities which were sadly damaged when the pavilion was built and the bowling green and tennis courts installed. We’ve spent many years at the park with our own children and often discussed how great it would be to sit and have coffee or lunch in such a beautiful setting with the lovely playing fields, children’s play area and panoramic views down to the coast. The setting remains a bit of a hidden gem! How lovely it would be to share this with the wider community. Volunteering to run the village show tearoom for a number of years helped us to form a vision for the village, park and its users. Something that would be there permanently, a place for villagers and local families to gather for food, drinks, sweeties, ice-cream, evening events, parties etc….. Thank you to everyone who has helped us carry out our vision. We look forward to welcoming you all at Nelson’s soon! Nelson’s at the Park is now a reality! A place to pop in for coffee after a stroll through the woods, a place to meet friends for lunch, hold a children’s birthday party or just pick up some sweeties or ice-cream while playing.
