Refurbished in 2017, The Old Bell offers a contemporary and stylish venue within the grand old spa town of Harrogate. With subtle hints throughout the venue to its 230 year history, The Old Bell maintains its traditional values by serving delicious home cooked, locally sourced food alongside a fantastic selection of craft and cask ales and boutique spirits. Hidden away upstairs is a wonderfully intimate and atmospheric dining room perfect for events. With space for up to 40 people, this room is adaptable to whatever event you are planning. We only use the finest quality of coffee beans to ensure our customers receive a great tasting coffee in every cup. Call in to sample a wide variety of coffee, ranging from a flat white to a double espresso and even liqueur coffee. You can’t visit The Old Bell without appreciating its rich history. The first mention of The Old Bell is over 230 years ago in 1786, when the tenants of the original Bell said that they “provided a stock of the best wines and other liquors, and furnished the house in a manner of commodious for the reception of the genteleest families…” The original Old Bell served visitors who flocked to Harrogate’s famous Old Sulphur Well, which lies beneath the dome of the Royal Pump Room Museum directly opposite the premises. Sometimes known as the ‘Blue Bell’, the inn was a stage in the York to Harrogate coaching run before it closed in 1815 to be used as private residence until the 1840’s. The site was then cleared for the construction of Royal Parade at which time the original Bell’s inn cellars were incorporated into the new building. Most recently in 2001, the tavern expanded into No.7 Royal Parade which was previously the world famous Farrah’s Harrogate Toffee shop. Refurbished in 2017, The Old Bell encompasses hints to its steeped history whilst offering a contemporary and friendly atmosphere.
