About us...
At the heart of this traditional Yorkshire pub is a well stocked long bar with a full range of excellent, well kept, Timothy Taylor’s locally brewed cask condition ales, a selection of lagers, ciders and spirits including fine malt whiskies, top brandies and popular liqueurs. This traditional Yorkshire pub has a traditional bar with oak beams and two open fires giving character and warmth on a long winter evening or a chilly lunchtime. We pride ourselves on our award winning beers and Michael’s Cask Marque award assures you of a superb pint of cask ale. Our two extensive dining areas provide relaxed surroundings in which to enjoy home cooked food complemented by a comprehensive wine list which includes whites, reds, and rosés from France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Germany and California as well as champagnes and sparkling wines. The Dog & Gun’s original “Well Restaurant” is self contained and situated to the right of the main bar. Beneath this restaurant is the original well which can be seen through the glass floor. The newer restaurant is to the left of the bar at the front of the building overlooking the moors and down into Oxenhope itself. Both areas can be used for private parties and small weddings. All our products are sourced from local suppliers with fresh deliveries daily. We have a weekly Quiz Night (usually on a Monday), theme nights throughout the year, wine tasting evenings and various promotions. Our regular activities also include our involvement with The Oxenhope Straw Race, our annual bonfire, charity events in aid of Sue Rider Manorlands Hospice and a number of auctions. Located on the Denholme road out of Oxenhope, the Dog & Gun is close to Brontë attractions of Haworth and the Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway which terminates in Oxenhope.
