La Mirage Restaurant in Helmsdale, on the North East coast of Scotland in the heart of the Highlands, is as famous for it's hospitality and decor as it is for the food. Created by Nancy Sinclair in the style of her good friend Dame Barbara Cartland, the restaurant has a national and international reputation. The restaurant can cater for up to 50 people. Bus parties regularly visit and enjoy traditional Scottish high teas and afternoon tea. The restaurant is also a favourite for celebratory events, wedding parties etc. Many more simply pop in for a snack, lunch or dinner and for those pressed for time Simply The Best Take-Away is very well known and used. Originally opened in the 1970's, La Mirage has become well known, not only throughout the North of Scotland but also world-wide, for the unusual ambience. Created by Nancy Sinclair and her son Don the interior is stunning and an experience in it's own right. In 2003 Nancy retired and the new owners, Pam and Mike Wakefield, took over with a hard act to follow. With Pam's many years of experience in the catering industry, including top class hotels in the UK, and the invaluable assistance of Nancy and Don, every effort has been made to continue the traditions established in the early years. Don still works with us and his sense of flair and the unusual is evident in the surroundings and decor. Full of life, a warm welcome and good food awaits all guests. Ideally positioned on the main street in Helmsdale, La Mirage is an ideal place to stop after a visit to the lovely beaches in the area, a round of golf or a days fishing.
