The Four Candles

British Pub

Gastropub

This eye-catching building, is situated next but one to Oxford University's history faculty. Originally the city's High School for Boys. This was the school the late British comic actor Ronnie Barker was educated, before going on to become one of the Two Ronnies. Probably, best known for their 'Four Candles' sketch, the pubs name is a tribute to Barker and that iconic scene, in which Barker walks into a hardware store and appears to ask for 'four candles' which he gets. However, what he really wanted was fork handles - 'andles for forks'.
